Maros

Maros is a regency located in the province of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is situated in a mountainous region between Java and Sulawesi. Recently, Maros has become newsworthy due to the disappearance and subsequent discovery of the wreckage of an Indonesia Air Transport ATR 42-500 turboprop plane in the area. The plane, carrying 10 or 11 people, lost contact with air traffic control while en route from Yogyakarta to the capital city of South Sulawesi. Search and rescue operations were launched, and the wreckage was found on a fog-covered mountain slope in Maros. As of the latest reports, one body has been recovered from the crash site.
