Antequera

Antequera is a city located in the province of Málaga, Spain. It is currently newsworthy due to its role as a key transfer point for travel between Madrid and Málaga. The high-speed rail line connecting Madrid and Málaga is experiencing disruptions due to ongoing infrastructure work near Álora, leading to temporary closures and limitations. As a result, Renfe (the Spanish national railway company) is offering a combined train and bus service, where passengers travel by train from Madrid to Antequera and then continue their journey to Málaga by bus. This arrangement is particularly relevant during peak travel periods like Semana Santa (Holy Week), when Renfe is increasing its capacity with over 51,300 additional seats to accommodate the increased demand. Adif, the railway infrastructure manager, is working to restore the high-speed line to full operation as quickly and safely as possible.
