Comillas

Comillas is a district located in the Carabanchel area of Madrid, Spain. It is currently newsworthy due to the ongoing expansion of Metro Line 11 (L11). The project involves tunneling from Comillas to Conde de Casal, aiming to improve connectivity between the south and east of the capital. The tunnel boring machine, named 'Mayrit', has recently been activated and is now actively excavating the approximately six-kilometer tunnel. This marks the first major metro expansion in Madrid since 2009. The project is considered significant as it will add five new stations and is expected to greatly improve the city's subway system.
